Tuesday, January 11th, 2022 at 2:00 PM Marshall County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle submerge in a farm pond in the 3300-mile of Marsh Avenue. When Deputies arrived, they located a passenger car in the middle of the pond that was believed to be occupied. It was determined the occupant had deceased prior to emergency responders arriving on scene. Due to the conditions of the partially frozen water and location of the vehicle in the pond, Story County Sheriff's Office Dive Team was contacted of assits in the revovery of the occupant and vehicle.
The occupant was identifed as Ricky Dean Pierson, 60, of Laurel Iowa and pronounce deceased at the scene. This incident remains under investigation and there is no indication at this time Mr. Pierson's death is suspicious.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Office was assited by Story County Sheriff's Office, Marshall County Medical Examiner's Office, Marshalltown Fire Department, Melbourne Fire Department, Unity Point Ambulance, Melbourne and Rhodes First Responders.
