Rural Marshalltown, IA - In the early morning hours of May 7, sheriff's deputies responded to an area a short distance west of Marshalltown where a man had been shot.
On May 7th, 2020 at 04:29 am, Marshall County Sheriff's deputies responded to a rural area in the 2200-mile of West Main Street Road regarding a report that a person had been shot. When Deputies arrived, they discovered a seriously injured male in a remote area. The male was transported to the Unity Point Heath Emergency Room by ambulance, where he was stabilized and then transported to a Des Moines trauma center by air ambulance. The victim, Michael Limkemann, age 35, of Marshalltown, remains in stable condition.
The incident remains under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office has no reason to believe that the public is in danger. Additional details will be released as they become available.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Marshalltown Police Department and Unity Point-Marshalltown Area Paramedic Service.
