On March 7, 2022 at 2:55pm the Marshall County Communications Center received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 30 near Hart Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, it was determined that the collision involved a tractor trailer and a cement truck. The tractor trailer had collided with the rear of the cement truck causing several tons of wet concrete to spill on the highway. Both vehicles were disabled and completely blocking the westbound lanes. The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The other driver was uninjured. The investigation and cleanup caused a complete closure of the westbound lanes of Highway 30 west of the Hart Avenue intersection for approximately two hours. Westbound traffic was detoured to an alternate route. The crash is under investigation by Iowa State Patrol and Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
Agencies responding to and assisting Deputies at the scene were: State Center Fire and EMS, Unity Point Ambulance, Iowa DOT Maintenance, Iowa State Patrol, DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement, and Dave’s Crane and Wrecker.
