At 2:28PM the Marshall County Communications Center received 911 calls reporting a northbound tractor trailer had went off Highway 330 through a guardrail and down an embankment onto the eastbound lanes of Highway 30. Deputies arrived on scene within minutes of the call and found a tractor trailer and the agricultural equipment hauled on the semi trailer had become dislodged during the collision and was now blocking the eastbound lanes of Highway 30 underneath the bridges for Highway 330 lanes. The semi tractor was on fire when Deputies arrived. Bystanders and Deputies used multiple fire extinguishers to help supress the fire until Fire Department personnel arrived on scene to extinguish the fire and extricate the patient. Despite the efforts of first responders, the driver of the tractor trailer succombed to his injuries at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The eastbound lanes of Highway 30 were closed for over three hours due to the crash investigation and scene clean up. The name of the driver is not being released pending notification of family.
