3200 Mile of 260th St, Marshall County - At about 5:38am on Sunday morning, June 8th, emergency responders and Marshall County Sheriff's Deputies responded to 3200 mile of 260th ( southeast of Legrand about 2.5 miles ) in regards to a traffic accident.
Authorities found a single vehicle had lost control on the gravel road, entered the south ditch, and then rolled landing in a bean field about 30 yards off the roadway.
One of the occupants was found deceased, on the roadway, and had been apparently ejected from the vehicle. He was later identified as Jose Luis Gonzalez, age 18, of Toledo, Iowa.
One other occupant was found yet inside the vehicle and removed, and transported to Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, with multiple injuries. He was identified as Eric Climer, age 17, also from Tama County. His medical status at this time is unknown.
Sheriff's Deputies, Legrand Fire and First Responders, and Marshalltown Area Paramedics responded and assisted at the scene. Marshall County Medical Examiner Dr. David Bethel also responded to the scene. An autopsy will be scheduled later in the week for Mr. Gonzalez.
The vehicle involved was a 2014 Ford Escape belonging to Bryce Climer of Montour.
