1000 Mile of 230th Street in rural Marshall County - At 1:29 hrs on 12/31/2011 Deputies were dispatched to the 1000 mile of 230th Street (Old Lincoln Highway) in reference to a vehicle rolled over in the south ditch.
Upon their arrival, Deputies discovered a Red and White Ford pickup truck registered to a Story County Address. Searching the immediate area around the crash scene, they discovered the body of Jonathan Lee Wright, Age 25 of rural route Collins, Iowa.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was eastbound, at a high rate of speed, in the 1000 mile of 230th St. when it entered the south ditch and struck a culvert along with some fence posts. The pickup continued eastbound, rolling over multiple times until it came to rest in the south ditch. During the time that the pickup was rolling, the driver was fully ejected.
Also responding to the scene were the State Center Police Department, Fire Department and First Responders along with Marshall County Deputy Medical Examiner, Mark Bethel.
Deputy M.E. Bethel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Investigation is continuing.
