Marshalltown man leads multiple agencies on high-speed chase.

December 31, 2011

Central Iowa - On 12/31/2011, at approx. 4:05 am, a Marshall County Deputy observed a vehicle traveling westbound at a high rate of speed leaving the city limits of Marshalltown.

The Deputy turned around to conduct a traffic stop just as the suspect vehicle began to accelerate, continuing westbound on Marshalltown Blvd. Although authorities caught up to the vehicle quickly, it continued westbound onto Hwy 30 at a high rate of speed. The chase continued southbound onto Hwy 330 toward Des Moines where Marshall County was joined by multiple other law enforcement agencies. The suspect vehicle maintained speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour during the chase.

On Hwy 65, just north of Interstate 80, authorities deployed "stop-stick" tire deflating devices which successfully deflated multiple tires on the suspect vehicle. Even with multiple tires flat and disintegrating, the vehicle continued westbound onto I-80 until it finally became disabled near the East mix-master on I-80. The driver, Terrance Antonie Parks, age 22, was taken into custody without further incident.

During the pursuit, Marshall County was joined by the Mitchellville PD, Altoona PD, Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.

Mr. Parks was placed into the Marshall County Jail where he is being held on charges of Driving while Barred, Driving while Suspended, Aggravated Eluding, and Speed.

Following his initial appearance, his bond was set at $2000.
