Marshall County Iowa - On 4-18-08, four local residents were arrested on charges related to an apparent methamphetamine lab, discovered at 1210 E. Nevada St., in Marshalltown.
Offices with the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force and the Marshalltown Police Department, went to 1210 E. Nevada St, to investigate a tip concerning drug usage in the home, and children being present. Upon arrival, officers detected a strong ether odor, consistent with meth lab activity, and detained two male suspects who had been inside the garage.
The house was evacuated, including two adult females and 5 small children. All persons were initially detained, while authorities secured the residence and the garage. Marshalltown Fire Department also responded to the scene to decontaminate the adults and children. Crises Care and the Department of Human Services were also summoned to assist with the investigation, as it pertained to the children. A search warrant was obtained and officers conducted a search and continued the investigation, leading to the following arrests and charges being made.
All were being held in the Marshall County Jail on bond, at the time of this release.
The State Division of Narcotics Enforcement also responded and DNE Agents processed the lab scene, seizing items of evidence related to the manufacture of methamphetamine.
The case remains under investigation.
