Eastman Avenue, rural State Center, Iowa - A rollover accident north of State Center resulted in a fatality early Monday evening. The accident claimed the life of Todd A. Krough, age 50, of rural Nevada, Iowa.
At approximately 4:45 PM, the Marshall County Communications Center received a 911 witness report of a tractor semi-trailer that had left the roadway on Eastman Avenue, approximately two-miles north of State Center.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a commercial vehicle leased to Mid-State Milling, Inc. of State Center was northbound on Eastman Avenue and left the roadway while negotiating a curve near Main Street Road. The unit entered the east ditch rolling over onto its side. Regrettably, evidence suggests that the seat belt/safety harness was not being used by the driver at the time of the crash.
The State Center Fire Department and First Responders, as well as Colo Rescue were dispatched to the scene to extricate Mr. Krough, who was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff's Office was also assisted on scene by State Center Police, Iowa D.O.T. Motor Vehicle Enforcement and the Marshall County Medical Examiner.
