Marshall County - The Marshall County Sheriff's Office will be accepting applications for Reserve Deputy Sheriffs starting April 17, 2013, with physical testing being held on 06/15/03. The Sheriff Reserve Unit is a volunteer non-profit law enforcement organization.
A reserve candidate must be at least 21 years of age. The individual must pass a physical agility test, a written comprehension test, and participate in one or more personal interviews. A complete background check including a polygraph for criminal offenses is also required. The person cannot have any felony convictions.
If accepted, the applicant will receive training in various facets of the law enforcement profession including but not limited to criminal and traffic laws, firearms, self defense and accident investigation.
Each officer is required to volunteer 8 hours per month by patrolling with a deputy. The officer also must attend one combination business and training meeting per month and departmental training (as designated).
Officers share some of the training costs and are required to supply their own handgun and leather. Complete uniforms are provided.
The reserve organization has been part of the Marshall County Sheriff's Office for over 35 years. Reserves have performed all types of law enforcement duties; including arrests, investigations, security of visiting dignitaries, natural disaster, and crowd control.
