Overturned Tractor Trailer Causes Traffic Delays on Highway 330

March 22, 2022 at 5:08 pm

On March 22 at 1:28pm Marshall County Communications Center received calls of an overturned tractor trailer on Highway 330 south of Albion.  The initial report was that the trailer was loaded with pigs and some were loose on the highway and in the road ditch.  Marshall County Sheriff's Deputies arrived on scene to find a semi tractor and livestock trailer on its side in the north ditch near a curve in the roadway.

Based on the initial investigation, the tractor trailer was driving northbound and lost control while negotiating the curve.  No other vehicles were involved in the crash.  The owner of the tractor trailer made arrangements for another trailer and personnel to come to the scene to load the loose pigs and unload the damaged trailer.   The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The roadway was reduced to a single lane during the incident and closed for a short time while heavy wrecker equipment was used to upright the tractor trailer.   The incident was cleared and the roadway fully re-opened just after 4:00pm.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Albion Fire & EMS, Dave's Crane and Wrecker, Iowa DOT Maintenance, Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, Liscomb EMS, and Marshall County Emergency Management.
