Rural Marshall County, Iowa-ATV Crash Results in a Fatality

August 20, 2024 at 7:12 pm

On August 20, 2024, at 2:21pm, Marshall County Communications Center received a report of a head on motor vehicle crash involving a pickup and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) in the 1100-mile of 320th Street, southwest of Rhodes, Iowa.  When Deputies arrived on scene at 2:30 pm they located a 17-year-old male juvenile unconscious in the roadway.  CPR was administered on the injured juvenile ATV operator.  He was transported to Unity Point Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa where he later succumbed to injuries sustained in the motor vehicle crash.  The driver of the pickup, Jeremy Guckert, 40, of Rhodes, Iowa was not injured. 

Iowa State Patrol was contacted to conducted a technical crash investigation at the scene.  The motor vehicle crash remains under investigation.    

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Iowa State Patrol, Melbourne Fire & EMS, Rhodes Fire & EMS, State Center EMS, Unity Point Ambulance, and the Marshall County Medical Examiner's Office.
