Marshall County Iowa - SCAMMERS CONTINUE:
Today we found that an impersonator called a Marshall County resident identifying himself as Sheriff Hoffman and informing the resident that they had an arrest warrant. Additionally, the caller ID appeared that he was calling from the Marshall County Communications Center. This troubling scam is unfortunately, not unique and typically are traced beyond the shores of the U.S.
The Sheriff's Office, IRS, and other government agencies will not contact residents and ask for payments over the telephone to settle warrants, post bonds, for family members, etc. Additionally, we will not ask for credit card information or ask for payments via prepaid cards, iTunes, etc.
