3100 mile of Canfield Avenue - Marshall County - At approximately 0639 hrs on 05/28/2007, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle accident in the 3100-mile of Canfield Ave, in southwest Marshall County near the city of Rhodes. The incident had been called in by a passerby. The exact collision time is unknown but thought to be between 0130 hrs and 0639 hrs.
Upon arrival, Deputies found a Red GMC pickup tipped onto its passenger side. The operator of the vehicle, Jason Charles Rice, 27, of Clemons and formerly of Marshalltown, was fatally injured in the collision. He was pronounced dead on scene by Marshall County Medical Examiner Dr. David Bethel.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Rhodes Volunteer Fire Department and first responders. At this time the investigation continues. Anyone who may have information about the accident or who may have had contact with the deceased during the early morning hours of May 28, 2007, is asked to contact Deputy Sheriff Randy Price at the Marshall County Sheriff's Office. 641/754-6380
