Approximately 2 miles west of Laurel on 330th St. - At approximately 15:35 hrs on 07/16/2007, Marshall County authorities were notified of a single engine plane crash in a field north of a location approximately 2 miles west of Laurel, Iowa on 330th Street. Deputies responded to the location where they discovered the remains of a plane used for crop dusting purposes.
Dr. David Bethel (Marshall County Medical Examiner) was called to the location where he pronounced the pilot deceased.
At this time the Marshall County Sheriffs Office is assisting the Federal Aviation Administration with the investigation of this incident. ALL inquires or requests for information should be directed to the Des Moines, Iowa office of the FAA.
Also responding to the scene to provide assistance was the Laurel, Iowa Fire Department.
