On August 25th – 28th, about 40 K9 teams from around the state of Iowa and Minnesota will be converging on Marshalltown for the United States Police Canine Associations (USPCA) annual Patrol Dog Certification trials. The USPCA in Iowa tests patrol dogs annually in multiple skills including obedience, evidence recovery, human scent detection, tracking and criminal apprehension skills.
Each of these teams must meet a minimum standard set by the USPCA in order to successfully obtain a certification.
Marshalltown Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff's Office K9 Units are hosting this event. Marshall County Sheriff K9 Bosco and Deputy Hunt will be participating in this event to obtain certification in Patrol Skills and in Tracking.
In appreciation for all the community has done with funding for our K9 program, the Marshalltown and Marshall County K9 Units, along with the USPCA, will be hosting a K9 demonstration on Monday, August 26th, at 5:30 PM at the Marshalltown Football League Fields, 901 S 6th Street, Marshaltown Iowa. Come and watch as we introduce you to the K9 teams in attendance and show you what these amazing dogs can do!
We will have demonstrations in obedience, evidence recovery, narcotic detection, human scent detection and criminal apprehension skills!
