At approximately 3:43 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024, Marshall County Communications Center received a report of a subject that was stabbed near the 2400-mile of U.S. Highway 30, Marshalltown Iowa. It was discovered the incident had occurred on a “party bus” that was occupied by several adults travelling to Cedar Rapids after attending a business event in Des Moines. As the Communication Center was attempting to confirm the location of the vehicle, the reporting party informed dispatchers the vehicle was in the Unity Point Health-Marshalltown Hospital Emergency Room parking lot.
The victim, James Morgan, 41, of Cedar Rapids Iowa, was taken into the emergency room for medical care. It is believed Mogan’s injury was not life threating.
At 3:52 pm MCSO Deputies and MPD Officers located the alleged offender, Jesse Davis, 32, of Cedar Rapids at Unity Point Health, Marshalltown. Davis was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail without incident.
Investigation determined this was an isolated incident. Jesse Davis and the victim were acquaintances who are suspected of having a previous disagreement. The incident remains under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.
Jesse Davis was charged with Assault with Willful Injury, Class C Felony, and Going Armed with Intent, Class D Felony.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Marshalltown Police Department, Marshall County Communications Center, and Unity Point Health-Marshalltown.
