Wrong way driver crash results in fatality

February 1, 2024 at 9:10 am

At approximately 6:59AM Marshall County 911 received mulitple calls of a wrong-way driver going southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 330 south of Highway 30.  Less than one minute later, they received calls of a crash near the 18 mile marker.  Deputies arrived on scene and requested assitance from Iowa State Patrol.  The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.  The crash is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol Technical Investigators.  Names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending notification of family.  Deputies were assisted at the by Iowa DOT maintenance,Iowa State Patrol,  Lifeflight, Marshall County Communications Center, Marshalltown Fire Department, Melbourne Fire and EMS, and Unity Point Ambulance.  

The crash remains under investigation and any inquiries should be directed to the Iowa State Patrol.
