Vehicle in a small ravine, fully engaged in fire

August 12, 2009

East of Furguson - At about 750AM August 12,2009, emergency personnel responded to a complaint of smoke and a call about a vehicle in a farm field east of Ferguson.

Marshall County Sheriff's Deputies and Gilman Fire Department responded to the scene, about 2 miles east of Ferguson, and found a vehicle in a small ravine, fully engaged in fire.

After the fire was extinguished, authorities found what appeared to be the remains of one person inside the vehicle. The Marshall County Medical Examiner was called and Deputy Medical Examiner Mark Bethel, responded to the scene.

No positive identification has yet been made. The Medical Examiner's Office is working the investigation with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, and no other information can be released at this time.
